<p>A research group led by Takao Someya at the University of Tokyo has developed a material that has high electrical conductivity, but can stretch and contract like rubber. The group has used this material to make integrated circuits containing organic transistors.</p>
<p>Recently, carbon nanotubes dispersed in polymers have been used in efforts to create conductive materials that can stretch and contract. However, carbon nanotubes clump together, and this problem has prevented researchers from obtaining the desired characteristics. Someyas group solved the clumping problem by dispersing the nanotubes in an ionic liquid before mixing it with a polymer. The resulting material, with its uniformly dispersed nanotubes, shows hardly any change in electrical conductivity even when stretched by up to 70%.</p>
<p>Someyas group has used this elastic material to make a large integrated circuit, and is studying how to incorporate sensors for temperature, pressure, ultrasound, and light. Such a large, flexible sensor could be attached to the surface of a robot, to give the robot a sense of touch similar to that of human skin. The group is also working to create a flexible Braille display, by building in actuators instead of sensors.</p>

<p>The conception of this project consistently derives from its underlying architecture &#8211; the theoretic conception and visual pattern of the Hamburg Kunsthalle. The Basic idea of narration was to dissolve and break through the strict architecture of O. M. Ungers &#8220;Galerie der Gegenwart&#8221;. Resultant permeabilty of the solid facade uncovers different interpretations of conception, geometry and aesthetics expressed through graphics and movement. A situation of reflexivity evolves &#8211; describing the constitution and spacious perception of this location by means of the building itself.</p>

<p>The Water Theatre is part of a master planning of a city designed by Grimshaw. The idea is to couple a series of evaporators and condensers such that the airborne moisture from the evaporators is then collected from the condensers, which are cooled by deep seawater. This method produces large quantities of distilled water from seawater and is almost entirely driven by renewable energy. The building structure is orientated perpendicular to the prevailing wind to obtain a maximum supply of ambient air. The flow rate is controlled by louvres on the leeward side, which also incorporates solar panels to provide heat for the evaporators. As well as serving as a visible engine of sustainability, this structure doubles as an auditorium. The intention is to exploit the natural resources of the island, focusing on its two unique geographic features: steep beaches meaning that the cold water of the deep ocean is close to hand and can be siphoned off for air conditioning, and a steady wind direction that can be harnessed for the production of fresh water.</p>

The question that we should ask is how can we do life has learn to do?<br />
The principle of biominicry allow us to rethink over the design process in order to find a way to use the minimal of material in a project. Many researcher, sciencetist, studio and firms have started to adopt the blueprint and recipie of nature and organism by mimicing the natural intellegency and through technology to apply them into design.</p>

<p> The STEMcloud v2.0 project is a testing of an architectural prototype operating as an oxygen making machine.  It is a multilayer crossing of feedback loops, the cybernetics which transformation take place and new ecological understanding of architecture as the 2 main qualities to promote interactions as the main concept of this project. The 3 components that operates the project are the urban environment (the river ecology and the gallery space), the architectural machine (STEMcloud) and human behavior (the visitors).</p>

<p>Fibre-reinforced polymer composite panels has been used for the cladding system of Zaha Hadid’s travelling pavilion that is a celebration of the classic 2.55 Chanel handbag. Despite the aesthetic design, the construction of this pavilion is clad in 400 FRP double curved panels (convex and concave) , each with a unique digital geometry. They have developed a matrix regard to robustness, weight, visual quality, control of shape and tourability handling, size of panels, maintenance as the major catagories to evaluate each material. The result shows that FRP has the best overall performance which meets the criteria among the rest.</p>
<p>A matrix system can be used for the skin of the thesis project. By listing out all the requirements for various possible materials that could fulfill the facade system that is going to be develop. Through comparison to evaluate and analyze different materials in terms of their perfomrmance, functios, behaviour in different tempreature. etc in order to see the pros and cons or characteristic that can be extracted and adopted from each materials that could potentially benifits or in the final design</p>

<p>A group call Reef has did a sculptural installation by using shape alluminum alloy (SMA). The metal will change in shape according to temperature, offer the possibility of efficient, fluid movement without the mechanized motion of earlier technologies. This is an exploration of biokinetic which extending responsive architecture to another level in terms of aesthetic and practicality. In addition, the responsive membrane creates a diverse range of porous and dynamic enclosures capable of producing sophisticated, flexible responses to an existing program where as the the interior program will change based on the exterior streetscape<img src="http://www.reefseries.com/files/gimgs/6_spaceball.gif" alt="" />.</p>

<p>Carbon nanotubes will have significant influence on the architecture industry becuase they are 50 to 100 times stronger than steel because of its molecular perfection. The carbon atoms can bond with other matters and develop it to become an insulator, semi-conductor or conductor of electricity. This material is acting like a switchable conduit, a light source, a generator of energy and even a conveyor of matter. The structure of the material can be self-assemble that could revolutionizing the way inhabitants live, occupants will be able to “communicate” better with their surroundings. Windows and walls with variable transparency and mood is become possible.  As new materials and construction methods emerge, “nano-architecture” will definitely unleash the way architects to design building.</p>
